The first part of the Food Education Fund journey is to discover the multitudes of opportunities in the food world.

VISITING CHEFS

Through the Visiting Chef Program, the Food Education Fund brings in NYC’s top chefs and restaurateurs to teach our students an advanced recipe or new cuisine. This program happens both in person as well as virtually.

TASTE OF TOMORROW

Taste of Tomorrow is an all-school career day featuring 70+ hands-on workshops that tie classes to careers. Students take courses like the "Math of Meat," the "Science of Ice Cream," or "African Influence in American Cuisine."

CULINARY SUMMER CAMP

Culinary Summer Camp is a week-long program for incoming freshmen that gets them excited for their futures through culinary arts, entrepreneurship, and hospitality-focused programs.

EXPLORE

The second step of our program offers our students the opportunity to explore various aspects of the food world, from media to science to operations and much more.

DINE OUT

Through our dine out program, students have the opportunity to dine in some of the best restaurants in NYC in order to understand and feel comfortable with the dining experience.

FOOD EXPLORATION

We explore the world of food through a series of field trips, guest speakers, and workshops designed for students to learn a hands-on skill while exploring the different careers in the food world.

COLLEGE TRIPS

In order to empower students to continue their education, we fund various college trips and college access programming. We also actively builds relationships with colleges to sponsor scholarships for our students.

ACHIEVE

We empower students to achieve their full potential through hands-on, student-centered programming that allows them to create their own businesses, restaurants, events, and projects.

DINING LAB

Students create a series of pop-up lunch restaurants in the fresh&co dining lab open to the public. Students end this course with a Service Excellence certificate from eCornell.

POP-UP BUSINESSES

After completing entrepreneurship training as a part of the senior internship program, students put their knowledge to the test by creating a one-day pop-up food business.

COMPETITIONS

Along with our partners we put on various cooking  competitions with prizes including trips to Italy, cash scholarships, adding their recipe to national meal kit menus, social media spotlights, and much more.

LAUNCH

Once our students know what's possible and acquire they skills they need, the next step is to launch into the world.

JOB TRAINING & INTERNSHIPS

Following an innovative job training program focusing on career, life, and interpersonal skills, students are hired directly by some of NYC’s top restaurants and food companies for paid internships.

SCHOOL GROUNDS CAFE

Our student-run cafe is open to the public and located right on school grounds. In their senior year, students run all aspects of the cafe, from the finances to public relations to menu development.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Food Education Fund awards scholarships annually to both graduating seniors as well as to our alumni to continue their education and to cultivate personally meaningful careers.
